The Pact for the Mediterranean is a strategic initiative by the European Union aimed at strengthening partnerships with countries across the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. Building upon the foundations of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Renewed Partnership with the Southern Neighbourhood, this Pact seeks to foster regional stability, economic development, and sustainable cooperation.
Structured around two main pillars—strategic partnerships and regional cooperation—the Pact addresses key areas such as green and digital transitions, inclusive economic growth, migration management, and social development. It emphasizes mutual interests and shared responsibilities, aiming to create a more integrated and resilient Mediterranean region.
The formulation of the Pact is guided by inclusive consultations involving policymakers, experts, civil society, and local communities. This collaborative approach ensures that the Pact reflects the diverse perspectives and needs of the Mediterranean basin, paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for all stakeholders involved.
