Success Story: Warda Abdelmoez

Thanks to the Forsety training, I am able to track all the nurseries’ expenses and profits accurately. I am even able to accumulate surplus which I use to extend my activities.”

“I want to expand my businesses and increase my profits to provide my children with a decent life. I dedicate all my efforts to my nurseries for only one reason, to support my children’s education until they graduate.

Warda Abdelmoez

Project: Funded by the European Union Trust Fund North of Africa, the project “Capacity Building through Urban Infrastructure Development in migration-affected urban areas (CBUID) is a project implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It aims to improve living conditions in informal settlements through labour-intensive infrastructure rehabilitation and construction measures in conjunction with the creation of employment and skills development opportunities. The project is implemented in the three Egyptian governorates Asyut, Beheira and Alexandria, which have shown to either host international migrants and refugees or exhibit disproportionally high emigration statistics.

Warda has been managing two nurseries for children aged four to six years old in Abnoub City for over 10 years. Despite her extensive experience, she enrolled in the “Forsety” training to increase her knowledge, extend her capabilities, and find better solutions for her persistent problems in the management of the two nurseries. These problems included leading and guiding her employees as well as managing the nursery operations without a structured plan or budget. As a direct result of the training, e.g. in staff management, budget planning and management, Warda has been able to put in place a well-thought-through management plan, resulting the improved performance, productivity and efficiency of her employees.

Moreover, Warda's acquired knowledge has enabled her to carry out a well-structured feasibility study and budget for the year 2024. She says, “Thanks to the Forsety training, I am able to track all the nurseries’ expenses and profits accurately. I am even able to accumulate surplus which I use to extend my activities”. As a result of her newly acquired budget management skills and processes, Warda has been able to accumulate surplus from the profits of her existing two nurseries and opened a third branch without resorting to loans.

According to Warda, the training was extremely useful because it combines practical application with theoretical content. She also mentioned that the continuous communication and mentorship sessions following the training ensure accurate application by the trainees and provides unprecedented post-training support. “I have attended many entrepreneurial trainings, but “Forsety” is the best out of them”.

Following the mentorship sessions, Warda expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to discuss her business’s budget and challenges in more details. She mentioned that the focused and customised discussions as well as the mentors' more in-depth explanations helped her to develop a budget plan for both nurseries.

Warda also affirms that the mentors played a big role in shifting her mindset from being self-focused to being more market-oriented. She has started studying her competitors and is considering diversifying the services provided by her nurseries to re-attract the clients lost to competition.

“I want to expand my businesses and increase my profits to provide my children with a decent life. I dedicate all my efforts to my nurseries for only one reason, to support my children’s education until they graduate”, she says. Warda is the mother of four children, two of whom are in the critical final year of high school. This has placed a heavy financial burden on Warda as she is required to cover all school expenses as well as private lessons. Expanding her nurseries has improved her financial situation and she in now able to cover these costs.
