Today, Commissioner Ferreira, will open the 10th Forum of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) together with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Eduard Heger. Commissioner Ferreira said: “This year marks the 10th anniversary of the success story of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

Thank you very much for having me here at the health ministry in Cairo, still at a time when COVID-19 is on everyone’s mind.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
I am honoured to address you today at the Cairo Water Week, one of the biggest water-related gathering not only in Egypt, but in the Mediterranean as well as in Africa.

Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, is travelling to Egypt this weekend to participate at the Cairo Water Week (CWW2021) and hold a number of bilateral discussions with Egyptian and regional representatives.

I am happy to be here to be able to present to you the 2021 enlargement package that we have just adopted at the College meeting this afternoon.

Thank you, thank you very much. I am very glad that I can present to you as well now the enlargement package of this year.

The European Commission has published a report on the delivery of the pledges made at the fifth Brussels conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region”, held on 30 March 2021.

The European Union has disbursed an essential payment of €92 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Today is a very important day. Our leaders will not only confirm but also make it very clear that we are committed to the full integration and membership of the Western Balkan within the European Union.

The EU-Western Balkans summit took place in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia, on 6 October 2021. EU leaders agreed on the Brdo declaration, with which the Western Balkans partners have aligned themselves.
