The European Union and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan convened a High-Level EU–Jordan Private Sector Roundtable in Brussels today. The meeting brought together the EU Commissioner for the Mediterranean, Dubravka Šuica, Jordanian ministers, namely the Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yarub Qudah, the Minister of Planning & International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, and the Minister of Investment, Tariq Abu Ghazaleh, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Belgium, Yousef Bataineh, as well as European Commission representatives, international EU financial institutions (EIB and EBRD), and European private sector organisations and European companies.
At this occasion, Commissioner Šuica said: “Today’s roundtable showed our Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership in action. Jordan offers great opportunities in sectors such as water management and renewable energy and the EU is supporting European investors. The message is clear: Jordan is a strategic and stable partner, the EU business community is ready to invest, and our partnership is delivery-focused, mobilising investment, supporting reforms, and creating opportunities for both Jordan and Europe”.
In turn, Minister Toukan stated: “Our elevated partnership with the EU is multifaceted and we are pleased to kick-off another important milestone in our Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership and the first leg in our European investment roadshow here in Brussels. The EU has been a key partner to Jordan’s development agenda and this roadshow and the upcoming Jordan-EU Investment Conference will further expand our economic cooperation and drive European investments to the Kingdom”.
The roundtable took place in the framework of the EU–Jordan Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership, signed in January 2025, which elevated EU–Jordan cooperation and aims to mobilise up to EUR 1.4 billion in investments through EU financial instruments.
It marked the beginning of a series of high-level outreach and investment promotion events to be led by the Jordanian delegation across European capitals in the coming months, leading up to the Jordan–EU Investment Conference on 21 April 2026 at the Dead Sea, Jordan. His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will inaugurate the Conference. It will serve as a flagship platform to showcase Jordan’s investment potential, foster EU–Jordan partnerships and facilitate concrete investment announcements and agreements.
Discussions focused on strengthening EU–Jordan economic cooperation, mobilising European private sector investment, and advancing concrete, bankable projects in priority sectors. Participants exchanged views on investment opportunities in water, energy, digital and technology, transport and logistics, regional connectivity, and high-value industries such as critical minerals, fertilizers, food processing, and pharmaceuticals.
It also provided an opportunity to present Jordan’s ongoing reforms to improve the business environment and enhance investment attractiveness. European Union and Jordan reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening economic ties and underlined the private sector’s important role as a key driver of stability, prosperity, and regional integration.
