
High Representative/Vice-President Kaja Kallas will participate in the high-level meeting on Women Peace and Security, organised by Morocco, Guatemala and France. She will then speak at the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting at ca. 17:20 Brussels time (11:20 local time). Her speech will be available on EBS. In the afternoon, she will participate in the Ministerial meeting of the Ad-Hoc Liaison Committee on Palestine. Commissioner Dubravka Šuica will also participate.
Commissioner Šuica will participate in the UNRWA Ministerial-level Meeting.
Commissioner Jessika Roswall will host the side event ‘Shaping a Water Resilient World with Water Security for All', organised by the EU. She will have a keynote conversation at the Bloomberg Green New York event. She will also participate in an event on the financing of the green transition, organised by Covington & Burling LLP.
Commissioner Glenn Micallef will deliver a statement on behalf of the EU at the High-Level Meeting to Commemorate the 30th anniversary of the World Programme of Action for Youth. He will also deliver a statement on behalf of the EU at the High-Level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases and the Promotion of Mental Health and Well-Being. Both statements will be available on EBS. Commissioner Micallef will participate in the pledging conference of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund where he will announce the EU's financial contribution for 2025-2027, highlighting the EU's role as one of the fund's largest and historical donor. In the afternoon, he will participate in the ‘Intergenerational multi-stakeholder panel 2: Full, effective and meaningful youth participation'.
Yesterday, President Ursula von der Leyen delivered a speech at the event 'Protecting Children in the Digital Age' as well as at a panel session on investments in renewable energy in Africa. She met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang to discuss the follow-up to the July EU-China Summit. You can find the read-out here.
In the afternoon, the President announced that Member States have agreed that Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement would range between 66% and 72% at the UN Climate Summit. The President reaffirmed that the EU was on its way to reduce 90% of emissions by 2040. Read her full speech.
High Representative/Vice-President Kallas co-chaired a meeting of Foreign Ministers of the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). Read the co-chairs statement. High Representative/Vice-President Kallas hosted a meeting with the Western Balkans' leaders. She also co-chaired a Ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance, with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Norway. Commissioner Síkela delivered a keynote speech at the launch of the Global Partnership for Education's campaign.
